today we met guy rabut who makes violins in his chelsea studio on west 28th street. it was a meet me at the corner filming and m and c did the interview together. the studio was small and incredibly bright and airy due to the large windows. tools lined the walls and workbenches. it was a warm and creative and very quiet atmosphere and at first we were all hushed and extremely careful when moving about. when the camera was rolling, guy's answers to the interview questions were informative but short. when he thought the camera was off, he entertained us with stories about his college years at violin school, his constant search for beautiful pieces of wood (and carrying them home via train and plane) and even a tale about his little niece and his mom.
