we got to bed so late last night that c fell asleep before she could open her final birthday gift . . an american girl (samantha) mystery book. it was opened this morning with xena as witness.
everyone should strive to learn before they die, what they are running from, and to, and why. --james thurber

this daisy stitch scarf was made by c as a birthday gift for her friend. i never did get a picture of it before it was wrapped, so when i saw her friend wearing it today after their dance class, i quickly snapped a few shots. i'm sorry to say that i wasn't all that encouraging of c when she asked me to read the stitch directions from the vogue stitchionary one book. i'm so awful sometimes! i'm glad she ignored me and stuck to her intentions. she's a lot sharper than i am! and she made a beautiful scarf. it was made with a skein of zara from our stash. she added one more skein to it.

it's m.'s project for her friend's birthday. she got the idea from the cover photo of 25 bags to knit by emma king. the yarn is lamb's pride in periwinkle, and . . i don't know! the grey yarn is a skein she rescued from the sale bin at the yarn company. it was a good deal. six dollars. we bought two skeins and she never even touched the second. the material is my contribution. i'll sew a lining for the bag. right now m. is cavorting at the beach, which i really should be doing also.
