m's friend celebrated her 14th birthday today at bryant park (14!). we had salsa and chips and rice pudding. unfortunately, m and c and i had trouble skating. our skates need to be sharpened. m and c weren't sliding as much as i was, but they had trouble digging in and executing all the little tricks they like to do. i guess we really gave our skates a work-out in east hampton on green pond around new year's. other than that, we had a fun time and everyone went off to dance class at the Y on 14th street afterwards.
it's warm, but we're skating at bryant park again. it's funny to be on the ice without feeling like we need mittens . . or hats . . or coats! i think one of us even took off her sweater and skated in her summer camisole!
today was the last day of ice skating at bryant park. we woke at 6:30 am to get ready to go. we were there when they opened at 8 am. i love skating so early. there aren't many people on the ice and the air feels . . . fresher than later in the day! it was also warmer skating today than the day before yesterday. it was very cold wednesday!! invigorating!! my fingers and toes were cold and i had to make several trips inside to warm them. that wasn't necessary today. we skated until 10:45 am and then headed home for lunch and a rest before afternoon classes.
i have no idea what this shimmy is all about. i don't think c knows either. it's something her friend made up.
