president obama's first day in office

m and i were up at 7 am this morning to go ice skating. on our way to the train i suddenly remembered . . our president is now barack obama and not george w. bush! what a great feeling! so i wondered what president obama did during his first day in office (you can also go to npr and listen to their account):

we were all winding down after a dance performance at the world financial center (it was a busy day!) and ready to go to bed at 11 pm when our radio announced that obama had won. we couldn't believe it! and then we heard the cheering and car horn honking from outside and so we kept traipsing back and forth from the front windows to the back windows yelling and cheering with the outside melee, and the girls got out some bells they had and some pot lids and they were just banging away on them and adding to the craziness . . and then of course we had to call all our friends whom we had just seen a few hours earlier and exclaim over the wonderfulness of it all . .president-elect barack obama . . "how sweeeeeet it is!"
