holiday windows with grandma

we visited lord and taylor's christmas window display today, before running off to a dance rehearsal for dances patrelle. these are our favorite windows in the city. we like the old fashioned warmth and the moving figures . .

holiday windows

jackson pharmacy on 8th avenue, just south of 12th street, has their winter window display up. we love stopping to gaze at the scenes. there are ice skaters, flying santas in their sleighs, children sledding down a very curvy hill, carolers, trains, and a hot air balloon. i like it better this year because it's more of a village scene, not just moving gadgets. c and i always liked walking past indyke salon on 10th street each december. this week we made it a point to stop by and see if their windows were decorated. we found the salon empty! they've closed! so sad. we'll miss visiting their windows this holiday season.

performance weekend

we spent saturday at third street music school, attending class and performing in the music hour. sunday was spent backstage at the kaye playhouse, hunter college, for the yorkville nutcracker (by dances patrelle). c was a reindeer (as you can deduce from the above photo), and all the reindeer were mighty cute! it was a great show and c had a wonderful time. i had wanted to get us here, but the weekend was just too busy.
after the show sunday evening, c and i walked down fifth avenue and took in all the holiday lights and windows:

the creche at st. patrick's cathedral;

mike the snowflake at saks;

the tree at rockefeller center;

(and my favorite) the windows at lord and taylor's.
