friday field trip

we went on a field trip today, to the museum of the city of new york. they have a fabulous exhibit about new york city's beginnings, called amsterdam/new amsterdam. the tour guide was wonderful and described henry hudson's explorations and the early settlement of new york city through the use of paintings, navigational instruments, home and work artifacts (axe heads, ice skates, vases, pitchers, nails etc.) and a fun work sheet that got us discussing how the various museum objects were used and by whom. i hope we can get back there within the next month. other upcoming exhibits look interesting along with their current exhibitions.
