xena

xena is slowly fading. she has cancer and it is now surrounding her lungs. we took her to the vet yesterday. they took an x-ray and we decided to give her a steroid shot to see if the inflammation would go down a little so she could breath more easily. we brought her home and she is doing a little better today. she even ate a little last night before we went to sleep, and she ate a little again this morning. the question now is, how long do we keep her on the steroids? it's only a matter of time . . my friend says that she'll let us know when she's ready to go . .

this is a photo of xena that i took when i was making a heart pillow for a friend who had a knee operation. xena loves to sit on the bed with us when we knit or crochet or read or sleep. i was worried last night because she slept for quite awhile on the pillow pile by the window, rather than on the bed. for the past year she has inserted herself very snuggly in between us and i sometimes wake up with her head by our heads. the only danger with this is that her claws are quite long and she gets upset when we move around!
