tech week

it's been tech week at dance theatre workshop for ellen robbins' dance classes. she techs about 90 dances. it gets a bit crazy! k is stage managing and brings home all the horror stories (she also says that it feels like a lot more dances than 90). actually, it goes pretty smoothly considering the number of children and parents involved! towel dance (above) teched on monday. music is by bela bartok. (i like this little portion of the dance because of ellen's "OOOOh" when their towels fall down.)

this is a part of waterstudy which teched wednesday. it's so beautiful and you get such a true sense of the waves breaking on the shore when the little dancers do their humphrey fall onto the floor. the music is by maurice ravel . .

today has been especially hectic . . we did some last minute shopping at whole foods (we're making vietnamese lettuce rolls for dinner) after a studio rehearsal for m and c's solo pieces, and then ran back to dtw again to drop off the camera for ellen to use during the garden party dance. we finally made it home to finish cleaning and start preparing dinner for my brother-in-law's visit. he has a pyschology conference in midtown and he will be staying overnight beforehand. my sister was supposed to come along, but, unfortunately, she is home with a low fever and achiness.
