a quiet tea

today is the day of the medieval festival in fort tryon park. m went up with our friends since she babysat and slept over their house last night. c has been sick and g and i declared her not well enough to attend, much to her disappointment. i wasn't sure which would make her more sick: having her attend on a grey, rainy day, or telling her she couldn't go. well, somehow we made it past the tears and the whines and i took her where i like to go! tea and sympathy. m went last year when neither she nor i felt well enough to traipse about the cloisters all day. we had simple fare: tea and scones. specifically, vanilla tea and orange and pear tea. we drank it all! however, we still have one scone left with a smear of clotted cream on it. tea and sympathy makes the best clotted cream. of course we wanted to eat everything on the menu, but pocketbook and ethical reasons wouldn't allow, so we stopped at the store on the way home to pick up some free range balinski turkey sausages to make with our csa white potatoes sitting at home in the frig. c had a nap and is now cooking up a storm and it's time for me to help her get it on the table.
