this is what i would like to do when my children are grown and i'm no longer walking around with them and trick or treating. i'll get a nice (organic) bottle of wine and sit with my friend on her apartment steps (her building is more in the stream of things than mine) and hand out candy to the trick or treaters. see that tall witch's hat on that little girl with the broom? it was made by c's friend. last night she made her dad run out to the store at 10 pm to get the materials they needed. she stayed up with her dad until midnight working on it. she presented it to c this morning at their dance rehearsal. c was the happiest little witch girl you ever saw, and i was stunned, and chagrinned. i had been complaining all week that i didn't want to make a witch's hat, and saying that i didn't see how it would hold up with the black felt that c wanted to use. of course i'm still moping because a year ago c took our very special, large, cotton velour witch's hat out into the pouring rain and lost it. all i can say is, it's a good thing c has caring friends when she has such a pouty mom.
