the crane wife
we went to see a beautiful dance performance this afternoon. the girls' dance teacher was performing on pier 26 in c. eule's rendition of the crane wife. (here is the new york times dance review of the june 2008 performance). pier 26 is an historic float bridge with a restaurant (better known as a party boat barge). the dancers came from all sides and the audience moved around with the story. afterwards the children learned a bit of a dance sequence and were introduced to the band who talked about their instruments. we floated like cranes while rolling with the waves.
