it's warm, but we're skating at bryant park again. it's funny to be on the ice without feeling like we need mittens . . or hats . . or coats! i think one of us even took off her sweater and skated in her summer camisole!
it's difficult to tell from this picture, but they are all knitting. they are working on projects for our homeschooling nychea craft fair on december 8th. m is making mittens, c is making gnomes and k is making a hat. of course, k is also posting on her facebook page and chatting with her friends at the same time.
here is our beloved madeline. when we came home, we found her encamped on k's pillow, very contentedly grooming herself. most of the time she is really quite the nuisance and eats all our cotton socks, shirts, pajamas, and sheets. certainly, not good for her digestion. we try to keep this diet to a minimum, as you can imagine.
m tried out her uncle's electric guitar today. she's been working on blackbird . . and the slide sounded particularly good on it.
this is from the sheep shearing we went to last year at beaver creek farm.
we left early this morning to drive to my sister's home in connecticut. (we first picked up k in danbury where she had stayed at her friend's house.) in this photo c is contemplating watching fantasia, but we couldn't find it.
requisite photo op before the feast.
this is from last year . . a cozy morning with jack keeping watch!
jackson pharmacy on 8th avenue, just south of 12th street, has their winter window display up. we love stopping to gaze at the scenes. there are ice skaters, flying santas in their sleighs, children sledding down a very curvy hill, carolers, trains, and a hot air balloon. i like it better this year because it's more of a village scene, not just moving gadgets. c and i always liked walking past indyke salon on 10th street each december. this week we made it a point to stop by and see if their windows were decorated. we found the salon empty! they've closed! so sad. we'll miss visiting their windows this holiday season.
